Water-based formulations are environments suitable for bacterial activities due to the water and organic substances (surfactants, thickeners, etc.) in their structure. If sufficient protection is not provided in such materials; microbiological degradation symptoms such as gas release, odor change, viscosity loss, color change, emulsion breakage are observed.

Low toxicity biocide is a product developed for microbiological protection of water-based products against bacterial and fungal degradation and to extend shelf life.
